Since 2002 Michael Loyd Young, born in Memphis, Tennessee,  has worked on several projects traveling to 21 different countries documenting cultural symbols and what impact they have the daily life of the people that he photographs. For the past four years he has moved back to his roots shooting primarily in the southern half of the U.S." The south has such rich traditions and culture.  As varied and interesting as anywhere in the world ". Blues, Booze & BBQ, published by Powerhouse Books, was his first book. The book won the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award for photography. Beer. Bait & Ammo is his second book project in the trilogy of the South. Beer, Bait & Ammo documents the hunting and fishing culture along the United States coastline from Southern Texas and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Today he is living in Sugar Land, Texas USA.
